THE RIVER RUNS

THROUGH

A Midcoast Maine coffee shop, farmhouse store, and gathering place where coffee, baked goods, community, and healing come together.

The River Runs Through

The River Runs Through is a farm, farmhouse store, café, and gathering place in the quietly magical town of Monroe, Maine.

Come for coffee, tea, baked goods, local produce, books, art, and handcrafted goods. Stay for conversation, community, workshops, retreats, and opportunities to reconnect with yourself, the land, and what matters most.

We also offer shamanic therapy, transformational retreats, and nature-based ceremonies focused on embodiment, healing, and meaningful change.

Part working farm, part gathering space, part nourishment and healing—The River Runs Through was created as a place where people can slow down, connect, and experience the possibility of transformation.

Come by. Stay a bit. See what finds you.

New Offering - Shamanic Land Healing/Blessing

Restoring Relationship, Balance, and Connection

Just as people can experience periods of disruption, loss, trauma, or transition, so too can the land.

Whether a property has experienced significant change, development, neglect, environmental disturbance, conflict, or simply feels unsettled, many people report sensing that something is "off." While the causes may not always be visible, the effects can often be felt.

Using the Celtic Spirit Wheel as a framework, Shamanic Land Healing seeks to restore relationship between people and place, honor what has occurred, and invite greater balance, harmony, and connection.

What Does a Land Healing Consist Of?

Each healing is unique, but typically includes:

  • Walking and listening to the land

  • Learning about the history and current use of the property

  • Assessing the property through the lens of the Celtic Spirit Wheel

  • Identifying areas that feel depleted, disrupted, or out of balance

  • Ceremony, offerings, and expressions of gratitude

  • Establishing or restoring the Spirit Wheel on the land

  • Guidance for ongoing stewardship and relationship-building practices

This work is not about "fixing" the land. Rather, it is about acknowledging the relationship between people and place and creating space for restoration and renewal.

Why Might Someone Seek a Land Healing?

A land healing may be helpful when:

  • Moving onto a new property

  • Beginning a farm, business, retreat center, or community space

  • Following construction, logging, or major landscape changes

  • After periods of neglect or abandonment

  • When the land feels unsettled or disconnected

  • To deepen connection with the natural world and the place you call home

Session Length

1–2 Hours

Most properties can be assessed and worked with in a single visit.

Investment

$175 for properties within 10 miles of Monroe, Maine.

Additional travel fees may apply for locations beyond 10 miles.

Continuing the Work

Participants will receive simple practices for maintaining connection with the land, including seasonal acknowledgments, gratitude offerings, observation practices, and ways to continue working with the Celtic Spirit Wheel independently.

The goal is not dependence on a practitioner, but the cultivation of an ongoing relationship between you and the land itself.

"When we care for the land, we often discover that it has been caring for us all along."
