Growing One Row At A Time
"Slow and steady wins the race."
I don't know who first said it, but I know Rob says it at least once a day. Usually right after we've taken one step forward and what appears to be a step and a half back.
The thing is, I don't think they're really steps backward.
Building anything worthwhile takes time. Gardens. Businesses. Community. They all seem to have a habit of looking like chaos before they start making sense.
Both Rob and I have started businesses before, and somehow we've remembered them as being...easier. I'm fairly certain that's not true. Memory is kind like that—it quietly edits out a few of the sleepless nights and leaves you with the highlight reel.
This new adventure has already included worms, weeds, rain, signs that should have gone up sooner, slow days, busy days, and learning that reheating coffee in the microwave is apparently something one simply does not do.
Every day we learn something.
Every day we laugh about something.
And every day this place feels a little more like the vision we've been carrying for years.
Kitty and Cora still believe the farm is their own 29-acre private estate. They're not completely sold on visitors yet, but they're warming up to the idea...from the safety of the living room window.
If you're out for a drive, we'd love to see you. Stop by for a coffee, a chat, a crystal, or simply to admire the garden.
It finally has more vegetables than weeds.
Well...at least one row does.
We're open tomorrow from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Hope to see you!
